Second use French oak hogsheads for 18 months
Alc : Acid 6.5 g/l : pH 3.5 : Residual Sugar 0.7 g/l
Winter rains commenced a good growing season. Early temperatures in October, November and December were well above average…enhancing rapid development. March was cool thank goodness. Mild dry ripening conditions later combined with low yields led to good varietal expression in Merlot.
This wine shows lifted aromas of ripe stone fruit with very interesting cassis, & vanilla notes. A charming balance of cherry, plum and spice characters on a firm framework of powdery tannins, leads to beautifully lingering dark chocolate notes, which show the true vinosity of fine Merlot from a cooler vintage.
